Student Volunteers

The 2018 Farmers Insurance Open tournament staff is recruiting student volunteers to be a central part of our team. Successful applicants will become the face of San Diego as we host more than 118,000 spectators.

Student volunteers play an integral role in the tournament, and are given resume boosting work experience in assisting PGA TOUR and tournament staff on a daily basis.

All applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Qualifications: Any student, 18 years of age or older that has a valid student identification card

Availability: We ask our student volunteers to commit to a minimum of two 8-hour shifts (typically 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) between Wednesday, January 24th and Sunday, January 28th.

Registration Fee: $35.00

Volunteer Package ($250+ Value): Student volunteers will receive an official Farmers Insurance Open volunteer uniform that is yours to wear for every shift and to keep after the event. This includes:

  • Official 2018 Farmers Insurance Open Tournament Jacket
  • Official Tournament Headwear (choice of unisex baseball cap or visor)
  • Complimentary meal voucher for each day worked.
  • Use of Volunteer Hospitality Tent
  • Volunteer Credential – allows access to tournament, including days you are not assigned to volunteer
  • Volunteer Parking Pass
  • Invitation to the Exclusive Volunteer Tournament Party
  • Commemorative Tournament Lapel Pin

Volunteer Positions Available:

PR/ Media Relations: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the on-site Media Center.
Course Marshal: Responsible for crowd and noise control. Stationed at various locations: tee boxes, fairways, greens, etc.
Hospitality Guest Services: Assist sponsors in hospitality areas by checking proper credentials and providing information and customer service to corporate guests as well as enforce silence during play on the green. Will also assist in general upkeep and appearance of the hospitality venues.
Tournament Ambassador: Responsible for serving as official greeters of the tournament, provide information to guests and distribute Tournament programs.
