Defending Champion and World No. 5 Jon Rahm, three-time Tournament Champion Phil Mickelson and World No. 7 Rickie Fowler among early commitments to 2018 Farmers Insurance Open

SAN DIEGO (December 14, 2017) – Defending tournament champion and World No. 5 Jon Rahm, three-time Farmers Insurance Open Champion Phil Mickelson and World No. 7 Rickie Fowler and are among the early player commitments to the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open, the Century Club of San Diego announced today. The field is not final until the commitment deadline on Friday, Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. EST.

Among the early commitments are a group of players with San Diego ties, including Poway High School alum and four-time PGA TOUR winner Charley Hoffman as well as San Diego State University alumni J.J. Spaun and Xander Schauffele, who won the 2017 FedExCup playoffs-ending TOUR Championship and was awarded the PGA TOUR’s 2017 Rookie of the Year honor earlier this year.

Other top players who have committed include World No. 4 Hideki Matsuyama and 2012 and 2016 Farmers Insurance Open champion Brandt Snedeker.

In addition, the Farmers Insurance Open was honored with two “Best Of” awards at the PGA TOUR’s annual Tournament Meetings last week. The Farmers Insurance Open earned the “Best Onsite Staging” award during the 2017 tournament at Torrey Pines Golf Course, while Danny Waite, Century Club Senior Partnerships Representative, was named “Salesperson of the Year” by the PGA TOUR.

The Center For Children, one of the Century Club’s and Farmers Insurance Open’s Champions For Youth organizations, was named a finalist for “Charity of the Year” by the PGA TOUR and will receive $5,000. Bob Steber, who completed his 50th year volunteering for the Farmers Insurance Open in 2017, was also named a finalist for “Volunteer of the Year.”

Tickets for the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open are now on sale and can be purchased online at Adult grounds tickets are $50, with upgraded VIP tickets starting at $85. Discounted tickets are available for seniors, veterans and youth 13-17. Tickets are complimentary for active duty military, reservists, retired military and dependents and children under 12.
