SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS (SOS) – $514,741 Raised
for Local Schools in 2005

$4.61 MILLION RAISED OVER PAST 12 YEARS

89 SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED THIS YEAR

Support Our
Schools (SOS),
formerly
known as the
highly successful
Save Our
Sports campaign, set another record
mark this past year in their fundraising
efforts with $514,741 for local schools.

Support Our Schools was broadened
in 2005 to include all extracurricular
activities at high schools and
middle schools. In past years the program
targeted specifically only the sports teams
on campus.

Over the past 12 years, the SOS
program has raised $4.61 million, and the
2005 campaign engaged 89 San Diego
area schools.

SOS USbank

“U.S. Bank is committed to supporting
San Diego and all of the communities
throughout the country where
we operate. Schools are a vital part of
any community and we are proud to
continue our affiliation with this most
unique fundraising program for the third
consecutive year,” noted John Zygowicz,
market president for U.S. Bank in San
Diego. “With schools seeing significant
budget cuts around the state, we are
proud to do our part in helping San
Diego High Schools fund essential extra
curricular activities for the kids.”

“This has been an extraordinary partnership between the Century Club, Buick and the San Diego CIF Section. The winners in this win-win program are the schools who’ve certainly benefited from their hardwork.”

The idea behind the SOS program
is simple. Local high schools sell specially
discounted any day tickets for $15 to the
annual Buick Invitational through their
booster clubs, athletic departments and
on-campus clubs, and they keep 100%
of their sales.

The leading schools in generating
funds in 2005 were University of San
Diego, Poway High School, Mt Carmel,
San Diego High School and Westview
High School.

“The SOS program has been
an essential part of our local schools
fundraising efforts and it just gains more
momentum each year of the program.
Expanding SOS beyond the sports
teams has helped many more deserving
schools programs,” said Jeff Byroads, a
member of The Century Club and 2005
Chairman
of the program. “The SOS
ticket campaign
promotes the Buick
Invitational throughout the entire region.
The Century
Club is thrilled at how
this program has expanded to include
so many schools over the years.”

“This has been an extraordinary
partnership between the Century
Club, Buick and the San Diego CIF
Section.
The winners in this win-win
program
are the schools who’ve certainly
benefited
from their hardwork.”
said Dennis Ackerman, Commissioner
for the San Diego CIF Section. “By
including
all extracurricular activities it
has expanded the SOS program to other
deserving campus needs. We are very
grateful to be a part of SOS for the past
dozen years.”
