Tom Wornham Elected President

Tom WornhamTom Wornham is Executive Vice President and Regional Manager of Wells Fargo Bank's Wholesale Banking Group. As area head, he manages middle-market relationship managers who serve companies in three Southern California counties: Imperial, San Diego, and Southern Riverside. Based in San Diego, he oversees a commercial banking region that provides loan, treasury management, and deposit products to companies with annual sales greater than $10 million.

Tom joined Wells Fargo in 1982 as a teller and trainee before becoming a credit analyst in 1983. In 1984 he attended the company’s Credit Management Program. He was promoted to vice president of the San Diego Regional Commercial Banking Office in 1986, becoming loan team manager two years later. He became the first manager of the North County Loan Production Office in 1990. Tom returned to the commercial banking office as a manager in 1994, two years later he moved to Northern California as the regional vice president of the East Bay Regional Commercial Banking Office. In 1997, he was promoted to senior vice president. In 1999, he returned to San Diego to assume his current position and was promoted to executive vice president in 2003.

Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations at the University of California, Berkeley. He later completed the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management at Stanford University.

Active in many professional and community organizations, he serves on the board of directors of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation of which he is the immediate past chairman, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, Century Club Board, and the San Diego Championship Golf Association. In May 2007, Mayor Jerry Sanders appointed Tom to the San Diego County Water Authority. He chaired the United Way/ Chad Campaign for the 2001–2002 term.
